What should I do if my toilet is not flushing properly?

If your toilet isn’t flushing properly, try a few quick checks, then call our licensed plumbers. We clear clogs, repair fill and flush valves, and reseat loose toilets. For overflows, turn the shutoff valve behind the toilet clockwise.

Quick checks:

  • Make sure the supply valve is fully open.
  • Lift the tank lid: confirm adequate water and an untangled flapper chain.
  • Plunge 10–15 firm strokes.
  • If water pools at the base, stop use and call.

Toilets typically last 10–15 years; we’ll advise repair or replacement. Same-day and emergency service is available in Marion, Gas City, and Wabash.
