What should I do if my toilet won't flush but is not clogged?

If your toilet won’t flush and the bowl isn’t clogged, check the tank parts. Make sure the water supply valve is fully open. Lift the tank lid and confirm the handle lifts the chain and flapper. Ensure the flapper isn’t warped and can seal and then open freely. Verify the float or fill valve lets the tank refill to near the overflow tube. If parts are worn or the fill valve is failing, we handle toilet repairs across Marion, Wabash, and surrounding communities.

  • Open the shutoff valve under the tank.
  • Reattach or adjust the chain and handle arm.
  • Inspect/replace the flapper.
  • Check/adjust the float or fill valve.
